👀 THIS SHOW WILL BE GROUNDBREAKING

TLN 'THROUGH X' To Feature First Female Athlete | Duke-Denver Game Of The Week & More

We are happy to announce the return of The Lacrosse Network’s most popular video series, 'THROUGH X’ With Paul Carcaterra. This year, we’re kicking it off with an exciting new twist: Northwestern’s Izzy Scane will be the first ever female athlete featured on the show.

The episode drops on TLN YouTube on March 28 (SUBSCRIBE HERE):

Scane is the most dominant player in NCAA Women’s Lacrosse right now. She led Northwestern to a victory in the National Championship last season and won the Tewaaraton Award. Now, she’s looking to go back-to-back.

In the process, Scane is rewriting the record books. Earlier this year, she broke Northwestern’s all-time program record for career points. Now, she’s chasing Charlotte North for most goals in NCAA history. North’s record is 358, while Scane currently sits at 325.

Scane broke onto the college lacrosse scene as a freshman in 2019, but her run has been derailed twice since then. First was the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then she missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn ACL.

This resilient athlete will be a dynamic addition to the THROUGH X series and will open the door for more women’s lacrosse players to be featured in the future. Stay tuned to see who else will be on the show this year…

🤔 Where Are The Michigan Faithful?

This is interesting…

Michigan opens up Big Ten play against Maryland on Saturday. The Wolverines beat the Terps twice last season, including in the Big Ten Championship game, and they’ll have home-field advantage this weekend — yet they’re getting slaughtered in our TLN Pick ‘Em.

Only 6.6 percent of fans are currently picking Michigan to win.

Historically, Maryland has dominated Michigan. But the two meetings last year weren’t even close. Michigan won at College Park by five goals, then trounced the Terps at a neutral site by nine goals.

Both teams are looking to get back on track this weekend. Michigan (5-3) is coming off back-to-back losses against Harvard and Notre Dame, while Maryland (5-2) has dropped two of its past three outings, including a 14-10 loss to Virginia last week.

🆚 Game Of The Week: Duke-Denver

On Sunday, Duke and Denver will square off in a neutral-site matchup at Whittles Field in Severn, Md. The game will be streamed live on FloSports.

Both teams need this game to maintain their position within the top 10. After a 5-0 start, Denver dropped its first game of the season against Yale a couple of weeks ago. Duke, on the other hand, already has two losses and scored just four goals in a drubbing against Syracuse earlier this week.

Duke had the No. 1 ranked offense in NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse before the Syracuse game (they now rank 3rd). Will the goals come any easier against a Denver team that just held Ohio State to six points? The Blue Devils must find a way around another hot goalie in Malcolm Kleban, who is the reigning Big East Defensive Player of the Week after making 13 saves against the Buckeyes.

Duke attackman Brennan O’Neill will have to be more efficient against Denver, after going 1-for-11 shooting against Syracuse on Wednesday. Last year, he had seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) and scored the game-winning goal against Denver in overtime.

🇯🇵 Surprising Scores From Japan

The Premier Lacrosse League and Unleashed All-Stars each played an exhibition game against a Japan select team this week, and the final scores of those two games may surprise you. The men only defeated Japan by a score of 8-5, and the women’s exhibition ended in a 15-15 tie.

These outcomes are a clear sign that the lacrosse talent in Japan is on the rise, and that’s a good thing for the global growth of the game.

In the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, Japan moved past England to claim 5th place. By the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Japan could be competing on a level much closer to the United States and Canada, who traditionally finish first and second in international play.
