⚡️ PLL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES HITS D.C.

Four PLL Teams Set For Week of Sixes | Rules, Rosters, TV Info & More

⚡️ PLL Championship Series Hits D.C.

The Premier Lacrosse League is getting a little faster this week, and The Lacrosse Network is on-site to cover the action. For the first time ever, PLL teams will compete in the new "Sixes" format. If you're unfamiliar with this brand of lacrosse, keep reading and we'll fill you in on the details.

Games will be played at The St. James, a state-of-the-art sports complex in Springfield, Va. The round robin begins on Wednesday, followed by a single-elimination playoff round on Saturday. Finally, on Sunday, the PLL's first-ever Sixes champion will be crowned.

The TLN crew will be reporting live from the event, with a little help from our friends Mikey Diggs and Scotty Royster. Let this newsletter serve as your one-stop shop for everything you need to know — including rules, rosters and television broadcast info.

🤔 What is "Sixes" Lacrosse?

Sixes is a fast-paced version of the game we all love. It's played on a smaller field and features six players per side (including goalies). If you've never seen a sixes game, here are some rules that will help you understand what to expect:

  • 12 players on each roster (two goalies)

  • Four 8-minute quarters

  • 30-second shot clock

  • Field size: 76 x 39 yards

  • Everyone uses a short stick — NO long poles

  • Goalie clear after goal — face-offs ONLY occur at the start of each quarter

  • 2-point arc is 13 yards out (two yards closer)

  • Standard PLL penalty/overtime/replay rules still apply

🥍 Who's Playing in The Championship Series?

The top four PLL teams from the 2022 regular season qualified for this year's Championship Series. Those teams are the Whipsnakes, Chrome, Archers and Atlas. Ironically, the two teams that met in last September's PLL Championship — the Waterdogs and Chaos — did not qualify.
