The regular season is winding down, and tournament hopes are on the line. There are a ton of great games this weekend (scroll to the bottom of this newsletter for TV/streaming info), but there are four rivalry games in particular that we want to highlight this week.

We'll get to those games in just a second β€” but first, check this deal out...

πŸ’₯ Ohio State at Michigan (Friday Night)

All-Time Series: Ohio State leads, 20-5Last Meeting: Ohio State 16, Michigan 10 (2022 B1G quarterfinals)

This one may be a bigger rivalry on the football field, but these two fan bases can't stand each other in any capacity. Therefore, it's worth tuning in any time bragging rights are up for grabs. The Big Ten is pretty strong from top to bottom, but this game will determine last place in the conference. Both teams are 1-3 in conference play entering this matchup.

Don't be fooled by the overall records in this game. Ohio State (5-7) has top-20 wins over North Carolina and Rutgers, thanks in part to future PLL draft pickΒ Jack Myers. Michigan (5-6), on the other hand, took down Maryland earlier this month and has a Tewaaraton Award nominee at attack in Josh Zawada.

πŸ’₯ Syracuse at Virginia (Saturday Afternoon)

All-Time Series: Tied, 20-20Last Meeting: Virginia 21, Syracuse 15 (4/23/2022)

The two ACC teams with the most National Championships will go head-to-head on Saturday. Virginia (8-3) has won two of the past three titles and could go on another run this May, while Syracuse (8-5) is more than a decade removed from its most recent natty. The Orange do appear, however, to be turning a corner in their rebuilding project under second-year head coach Gary Gait.

The Cavaliers unveiled fresh throwback uniforms, helmets and gloves for this game. Will the different look help them play better? They're 2-3 in their past five outings, and now they're welcoming a red-hot conference rival to Klockner Stadium. 'Cuse is coming off back-to-back wins away from home, after taking down Princeton and North Carolina in consecutive weekends.

πŸ’₯ Hopkins at Maryland (Saturday Evening)

All-Time Series: Johns Hopkins leads, 67-49-1 (varsity only)Last Meeting: Maryland 16, Hopkins 11 (2022 B1G semifinals)

Known simply as "The Rivalry," this will be the 118th meeting between these two programs. Maryland (8-3) is not as dominant this year, and Hopkins (10-4) is eager to fill the vacuum of power at the top of the Big Ten. Both of these teams only have one loss in conference play. For the Blue Jays, it was an overtime decision on the road at Penn State. For the Terps, it was a shocking defeat at home against Michigan.

Maryland is apt to grind out games on defense and lean heavily on Luke Wierman to control things at the face-off stripe. The Terps don't have any players on their roster with over 30 points this season, whereas Hopkins has four such players β€” Jacob Angelus, Garrett Degnon, Russell Melendez and Brendan Grimes. Expect some sparks to fly at College Park on Saturday.

πŸ’₯ Army at Navy (Saturday Evening)

All-Time Series: Navy leads, 63-36-3Last Meeting: Navy 12, Army 11 (OT, 4/23/2022)

It doesn't matter what sport they're playing β€” any time Army (9-2) and Navy (7-6) square off, America tunes in. There's a patriotic feeling that comes with watching two military academies clash, and the Midshipmen helped stir the excitement this week by dropping some sleek NASA-themed uniforms and helmets.

Last year, Navy played spoiler and upset Army in overtime. This year could be similar, as Army is currently undefeated in Patriot League play and needs to establish dominance in the conference in order to win over the NCAA Selection Committee. Navy is barely above .500 on the season, but this team has turned it around in conference play after struggling through a six-game losing streak. Army is coming off a tough, one-goal loss to Cornell after winning nine in a row.
