🌿 Six Ivies crack Top 20

Plus Petro's return to Homewood, Xavier Arline's first goal, and more

πŸ—³οΈ Week 5 Top 20

Harvard and Loyola joined the Top 20 after ranked wins over Michigan and Duke, respectively.

There are now six Ivy League teams in the Top 20 -- including three (#3 Princeton, #4 Cornell, and #6 Penn) in the top 10!

As conference play gets underway, these early season non-conference results will have a huge impact in May, dictating which conferences receive the most bids. More on that later in the newsletter...

🏈 Xavier Arline scores his first career goal

After two years at quarterback for the Navy football team, Xavier Arline made his debut for the lacrosse team this spring.

The Wading River, N.Y. native and fifth-ranked recruit in the 2020 class scored his first career goal on Sunday against Colgate.

πŸ₯ Petro returns to Homewood

Dave Pietramala -- the winningest head coach in Johns Hopkins' 139-year history -- made his return to Homewood Field on Sunday.

Pietramala's Syracuse defense held Hopkins to 10 goals; but the offense couldn't solve Hopkins goalie Josh Kirson (14 saves).

The Syracuse offense is struggling without Owen Hiltz. They posted a 16.3% offensive efficiency on Sunday, including 8% in the fourth quarter and have hit a DI-high 23 pipes this spring.

Hopkins hosts Navy at 7:00PM ET on Friday night. Syracuse travels to Stony Brook at 3:00PM ET on Saturday.

πŸ™ Indiana played used EMT training to save Clemson player

Harris Jaffe (Indiana) was late to the team bus. His coach almost left him. But he made the trip and when Clemson's John Holcomb collapsed in the fourth quarter, Jaffe sprung into action, using his EMT training to save Holcomb.

πŸ”£ Projecting bids per conference

Lacrosse Reference ran the numbers and projects 3.92 Ivy League bids in May.

The ACC -- which doesn't have an AQ for its conference champion -- is down to 2.03 projected bids after Notre Dame, Duke, and Syracuse lost this weekend.

Full projections through March 13th:

πŸ¦… Charlotte North leads DI in EGA

Boston College attacker Charlotte North is leading all of DI in EGA per game -- adding 1.40 expected goals per game via draws and 5.57 via non-draws.

Her #1-ranked Eagles face #2-ranked UNC on Sunday at 2

πŸ“½οΈ Film Study: Picking in the sub game

Whipsnakes LC long-stick midfielder Michael Ehrhardt is a beast in the substitution game -- picking, subbing, and faking subs.

Georgetown is incorporating DOUBLE PICKS into their substitution game. When you have a pair of offensive midfielders or faceoff athletes trapped, this play can stretch the opposing defense thin.
